| Name: |
Jerry Gillis (yeah, I have a middle name, but it's none of your business) |
|
Family: |
my wife and two sons are better than my imagination would have allowed |
|
Education: |
Have some. Need more. (B.A. - University of Georgia; M.Div. - New Orleans Seminary; D.Min. - Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary) |
|
Favorite activities: |
college football (University of Georgia), baseball (go Braves), reading, running, coaching my boys in baseball, eating dinner together with my family at a table (yep, people still do that), picking the all time best bands/singers/athletes/writers/movies, etc., doing anything outside in the Buffalo fall, laughing..........a lot........and often, doing characters out of Napolean Dynamite. |
|
If I wasn't a pastor I would: |
a) be playing shortstop for the Braves (doesn't hurt to dream),
b) host some really funny tv show, or
c) enjoy being a writer (and likely learn to enjoy not eating or being able to pay my bills as a result). |
|
Favorite band/singer: |
Nearly impossible to come to a firm conclusion because I love so many styles and artists. Some that would be in the top eschelon for me would be Sara Groves, Stevie Wonder, Mark Broussard, John Mayer, Chris Tomlin, Benji and Jenna Cowart, Jonny Lang, and old school Chicago and Genesis. |
|
Favorite book: |
Just as impossible. Top tier books would be Your God is Too Safe by Mark Buchanan, The Divine Conspiracy by Dallas Willard, Don't Waste Your Life by John Piper, An Unstoppable Force by Erwin McManus, anything by C.S. Lewis. |
|
Best movie: |
Probably Braveheart, although I love The Patriot, Gladiator, The Lord of the Rings trilogy, and Remember the Titans. |
|
Biggest dream: |
That I, and my family, would be a part of the Church in America having a Kingdom agenda as her priority. If God is ever going to use me in this way, it will take God working in me even more. May His Kingdom Come. |
